Somewhere a Veteran...
stands watching,
silently biding his time...passerby's
stroll the path of the Black Wall
that list thousands of soldiers that
struggled in fight and toiled for years,
in a war that lasted...
Somewhere a Veteran,
Walks with his family,
his eyes far away,distand,
recalling to himself, what's too painful
to speak of.
His Grandson, age three, runs over to
an American flag,and says happily"look,
it's a flag...stars,I see stars"!
"I see stars too", recalls the Veteran,
eyes glisten as they move on down
the filled pathways.
Somewhere a Veteran...
stands near his state, holding his cap,
smiling.
There is a wreath of flowers in red, white,
and blue.
A photograph in black n'white slightly
yellowed sits near the wreath.
"In memory of" says a banner near
the wreath and picture.
"Daddy, say cheese"! say his daughters.
They are grown with children of their
own.
They don't know what their relative
went thru in World War II.
Somewhere a Veteran...
buried below,a
gray tombstone,but not,
alone.
We honor these men and women
of the United States of America.
We are proud of them, for they,
have done great things.
We will not forget them...
