The Sound of Renaissance
The sixth day since the end of the world began with a poor ray of sunlight light coming through the cloudy sky in a forest near the White Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. Annie climbed the naked tree as every morning with her guitar on her back. She sat on the middle of the tree, remembering the tickle of the leaves, now replaced by dry branches, occasionally ripping parts of the only jeans she had left.
In the distance, where the lake used to be, she usually saw groups of animals walking, all of them really scared, really sad or just numb. She had never seen another human around. Her only company was a little rabbit that had lost his family. Since they lost their separate ways of communication, and therefore their protection, they were both able to hold long conversations about how the world used to be for each one.
As the days went by, Annie continued to play the guitar and all of a sudden it was not only her and the rabbit. A fox, a frog, a monkey, and a bird all gathered up in the tree, singing along to the beat of the music. For the first time, there was hope in the eyes of Annie.
However, two days after the miscellaneous group had developed a good relationship, Rabbit was nowhere to be found. Annie gave specific instructions to everyone as to how the search was going to be executed. There was no sign whatsoever of Rabbit, they looked everywhere, underneath the remains of the shattered mountains, inside the empty rivers and lakes, in between the shattered houses and trees, they started losing faith and pondered the idea of giving up.
Nonetheless, Annie and the others were persistent and were motivated to continue their search. They organized themselves with night shifts so that there was always someone looking for Rabbit. It was hard to tell, due to the large amount of gray clouds invading the sky, but a day had already past, and Rabbit was still missing. Everyone was exhausted, but they continued their effort.
After it seemed as they were out of ideas of where to look, the monkey remembered that after the destruction of his home, he found shelter in a hut that was surprisingly not harmed at all, just about 1 hour away from where they were. They all had a good feeling about the possibility of Rabbit settling there, and decided to go there. Once they arrived to the unscathed hut, they noticed the door was slightly opened. Annie rushed inside, where she found his friend Rabbit with his both hands wrapped around his knees, trembling out of fear. He explained to them that he lost his way when he went to look for some food and ended up in the abandoned hut.
Once they finally were all back together, suddenly, the sky finally began to clear up, the mountains were slowly forming once again, the plants and trees came back to life and the rivers and lakes were once again filled with water. Everything slowly started to go back to how it was before, giving them the feeling that as long as they were together, everything was possible and that the conflicts that caused the destruction of the earth were in the past. They started to sing along to the music Annie played.ow they could rebuild a new world stronger than ever.
