Absence
By Muriel Palanca
Your arrow, my compass, our centers entwined
Bound by the forces that nature designed.
Fools of the same nature with the very same fallacies
Forced to find meaning in divergent galaxies
Despite all our boundaries, two hearts are made whole
Yet left separate halves of the same tortured soul
But where in your absence am I to reside?
To what point on earth does the sea meet the sky?
Come close to the edge without fear of pretenses
Disregard consequence and let down defenses.
This wish not yet granted but I know that it’s right
For we are just stars in this obsidian night,
Looking at earth and all the things that could be,
Like a couple holding hands that should be you and me.
When will it come for our time to shine?
Your celestial radiance burning with mine
Together, forever, the eternal constellation,
A love for all time and the end of creation.
