Dawn on Lake Manitouwabing

The crystal black lake is dark deathly still
Enshrouded, enveloped in mist
Black amethyst rays of a new virgin dawn
Rekindle the dim distant shore
Embracing the treeline in purplish haze
Reviving the murky horizon
Darkly outlining the tall dusky firs
Morning softly creeps onto our lake

The violet haze shoots wine crimson scarlet
Up into the dying night sky
The icy grey mist steals back to the shore
Still waters reflect ruby skies
Soft warbling trills of unseen wild birds
Are first to breach dawn's perfect still
The cool icy air admits a soft breeze
As morning debuts on our lake

The crystalline webs woven deep in the night
Shimmer rainbows of dew on the firs
The bright morning sun rises over the trees
Fading splendid red skies to grey blue
The luminous mist on the lake dissipates
While the dew on the webs disappears
The sun warms the dawn's cool clear morning air
And the spiderwebs burst in the light
