StarShine Memories

Time ticked warped in that place
where moments and days, past and present
painted teardrop faces upon broken horizons
and as I sit here in the midst of
every thing come and gone in my life

Silently watching clouds roll carefree
across marmalade kissed mountain tops
I can't help but wonder why
I can still feel you here with me
so close, when you have never been further away

One last ray of light warms my face before
fading softly into the cusp of night
such a darkness sweeps over the land
overpowering all memory of day
leaving time itself alone and scared

And I sit in the middle of all of this
with my arms wrapped tightly around my legs
as a chill deliberately crawls up my spine
slowly spilling into my soul
then, I remember you
and my heart stops mid-beat

Bursting into a million pieces
of shimmering thought
I watch in awe of the flecks
as they dance warmly around me

Before rising high into the skyscape and
decorating the canvas of night
spanning time and space with their glow
brilliantly painting all things
with the beauty of their promise
reaching out and touching forever
with the truth of their existence

Pulsing so brightly to the
rhythm of their own beat
proclaiming they still feel,
they still love
and they still hold the warmth of you
deep within me….and always will
I close my eyes basking in all that you are

And then I know why
I always feel you,
with me…
