Profound Nonsense
a cowering moon hides its light
enveloped deep within the dark of night
afraid to radiate upon the shimmering gate
not a soul to help those who wait
a trembling hand tries the rusted lock
hurry, hurry, the clock won't stop
looking through bars of steel
knowing what's beyond is all to real
stinging fears chill the bony spine
thoughts of wisdom won't help this time
calloused fingers can't manipulate the keys
running out of time, hurry, hurry please
grumbles and groans echo in the night
thinking this is wrong, but it has to be right
the path ends here, the road goes no more
push on; push on-open the door
shoving the key deep within the lock
opening the gate, stopping the clock
in the intake of a breath
destiny has changed
but on the other side of the gate
everything's the same
a moment frozen in the mind and soul
cloaking the heart, keeping it cold
tick tock, time begins again
different beat, different rhythm
wild and free fate's tears do fly
consuming all that feel her cry
louder and louder the hands tick on
hurry, hurry before its all gone
looking back to the wicked gate
wondering why it’s already too late
closed eyes won't show the answer
hushed lips won't reveal the power
an epiphany begins to set in
it was too late before it even began
