Wake My Heart

when I feel his gentle gaze
settle upon me
I tremble with
pigeon-toed innocence
forgetting all things
come and gone
losing myself
in this moment
where he makes me
feel alive again

I begin to dream
in tomorrow's hues
filling every second
with possibility
reaching beyond the realms
of mere mortals
and deep into the truth
of time as a whole
where we can do anything
within the bends

moonbeams spray across forever
sparkling ripples of
sweet cherry wine rain

….entwined as one
we become a silhouette
drunk on passion
dancing a daring tango
upon the shimmering tail
of a falling star

hearts no longer beat
…they roar
echoing throughout eternity

waking real
for the very first time
demanding to be heard and felt
from the beginning to the end
in the name of all things
finally known

his lips capture mine
somewhere within twilight
there just above dawn
where stars begin to fade
and dark turns to light
where day seductively
swallows the tender of night

...we lose ourselves
in that space where absolutes
fervently wrap us tight
and carry us into eternity
upon the lingering magic
of an ebbing midnight
