LONELY AS A CLOUD

I WANDER ALWAYS LONELY AS A CLOUD,

I MOVE SO FAST AWAY, AS DOES THE SUN,

I TRAVEL LIGHT AMONG STRANGE MEN;

I WANDER LONELY FOR YEARS AS A CLOUD!

SMOOTH FIELDS, SILVERED RIPPLES OF WATER AND

BLUE PURPLED SKIES,

JUST LIKE A LOOM THAT MOVES SO FAST AND SURE,

OUR DAYS HERE ARE SO SHORT AND OUR DAYS RUN

SOMETIMES, AS FAST AWAY AS DOES ABOVE, THE SUN.

FLUTTERING, AND DANCING IN THE BREEZE, HALF

HIDDEN AWAY, FROM ALL THE HUMAN EYES, THROUGH

WHICH THERE, HAD ALREADY SHONE A BEAM OF LIGHT,

SO IT WAS, WHEN MY LIFE BEGUN, AND I STILL WANDER

IN MY MIND, LONELY AS A CLOUD.

The Hook's picture

Very melodic flow, and a wonderful expression of subdued, yet intense feelings...the undercurrent of pain and lonliness accent the ever hopeful feel, despite the melancholy mood... Great writing....

Melvin Lee's picture

I felt the forlorn undertones...i felt the childlike wonder of something so fleetingly lost and ethereal... Such is the power of this great poem, Dorian. I am glad i caught this... U pen it so well - i feel like a boy feeling the exact emotions...and wondering to himself if he IS the cloud itself. Smilesz. Thanxs~!!!>

You have an absolutely lovely way with words. Even though, you are talking about sadness & obscurity, it is said so well. Thank you for posting Amy
