I thought your memory had started to fade
Until I saw the flowers in bloom
Took me right back to that first day
That sweet Sunday in June
You were sitting by the lakeside
Basking in the golden glow of summertime
Something in me already knew I’d be seeing you again
But I didn’t know you’d come to be
All that you became to me
Sometimes when the warm winds blow
Just the right way
You’re still with me
When I walk home in a summer breeze
When the leaves rustle quietly
You’re still with me
When the sun radiates it’s light
Brings the freckles on my shoulders out
You’re still with me
You’re still with me
Our twilight walks were the highlight of my days
I’ll never forget how silly I felt
When we were caught stealing honeysuckles
Off the old Johnson’s tree
Licking our guilty fingers like kids half our age
Dropped them from our hands as we ran away
Laughing till we collapsed on a field of the greenest grass
You whispered slowly “Come closer to me”
I swear I’d never tasted a kiss so sweet
Sometimes when the warm winds blow
Just the right way
You’re still with me
When I walk home in a summer breeze
When the leaves rustle quietly
You’re still with me
When the sun radiates it’s light
Brings the freckles on my shoulders out
You’re still with me
You’re still with me
Lying together, shaded by the willows
Some relief from the sweltering heat
With eyes closed I listened to your heartbeat
Synchronized, keeping time with mine
Neither of us mentioned the month
Or the crying of the locusts in the air
Cause it felt a little too bitter, not enough sweet
The happy moments were the only ones we wanted to keep
I willed our summer not to end
But the seasons beat me at my game again
It was time for you to head back home
We both knew this was coming but that didn’t soften the blow
I piled the rest of your stuff into that old red truck
As you got into the driver’s seat
You drove off after one last kiss
I knew then you’d be something I’d miss but
Sometimes when the warm winds blow
Just the right way
You’re still with me
When I walk home in a summer breeze
When the leaves rustle quietly
You’re still with me
When the sun radiates it’s light
Brings the freckles on my shoulders out
You’re still with me
You’re still with me
