Four Years For You
Four years ago I met someone truly special
Someone who opened me up to a lot of experiences
Who showed me not everyone was out to get me
And this is how it all happened.
The short, quiet girl from Texas
The one who no one would approach
The one who I felt something special in
I thought right….
You were afraid to trust
Fearful to let anyone in
Your defenses held high
I was determined to break them
To get to know the beautiful girl inside.
Trust me, I won’t let you down
I’ll never bring you pain
A true friend who will be there
Right till the very end!
You let me in, and soon I discovered so much
How a single person can be so troubled
Yet so very beautiful on the inside.
Its amazing what god can do
By just creating someone as special to me as you
I remember all the great times that were shared
Halloween, your first Floridian Birthday
Going to your Winter Extravaganza
Staying late after school, and who could forget
The car rides home with my mom?
Then along came a monster.
Who slowly took you away
Seemingly severing the relationship we once had
Making you someone you really weren’t
Life was really never the same.
Every so often we’d share a quick chat
Eventually that ended too
You were completely under his control
And were gone from my life.
The years thereafter were ones of pure hell
I lost a true friend
My mother was stolen from me
I had not a soul to talk to
To hear my pains, and agonies
So inward I did turn.
Then one day I was checking my mail
And there it was a message from you
An apology that came from the heart
One that tore me apart
Soon we became close yet again
Kept the monster behind us
But you felt the urge to play with fire
I warned that you’d get burned
But away you did turn
Again you got hurt, and so did I
But I held out my arms
Waiting to catch you, and
To set you back on your feet
This Poem is in dedication to you Ashley
It explains my feelings towards someone as special to me as you
You’re a strong young woman; I just wanted you to know
I’m still here for you
As I promised the short girl from Texas over four years ago.
