My Beautiful Nothing

Sitting, staring, completely unseeing

You watch and you wait

Blinded by boredom

With nothing to do

I look to my right and see nothing

I look behind me, to nothing

Even in front of me; nothing

It seems I'm surrounded by nothing

I then glance to my left

I hear something approaching

Some something encroaching

On my beautiful nothing

Suddenly the something,

It breeches my nothing

I turn to confront it

And notice it's you

Now I am glad

You have come to see

To take a look deeper

Into my world

You're looking around

I'm sitting in silence

You look and you notice

"What are you doing here?"

"This is my place...

"It's my beautiful nothing."

You can't understand

Why I trap myself here

I come to escape

The turmoils of love

To sit and forget

All the pain and the strife

"It's much too empty here"

I hear you declare

And with that final statement

You leave me with my pain

I come out of my shell

Leave my beautiful nothing

Far, far behind

For you think it too plain

I seek your approval

For it means the world to me

You shun me to nothing

And so I retreat

Back, so far back

To my beautiful nothing

Where I can be alone

To ponder my love
