Pockets

Childrens Poetry

Pebbles and leaves

and little green men.

Pieces of grass

and a broken old pen.

A yo-yo that works

and a whistle that doesn't.

Bits of really good pie

and a biscuit that wasn't.

Turned inside out

a world in a pocket,

like seeing a secret

locked up in a locket.

I trust you my friend

so I'll show you inside

the world that I know

and the things that I hide.

It's all in the pouch

of these old overalls

I'll show it to you

crumbles and all.
