In Summer my sweet roses blush
against the garden wall,
their perfume sweet, their petals lush,
a flower that does enthrall.
I love to sit upon the porch
as daylight melts away
watch them fade into the dusk,
my scented rose display.
The ladybirds that visit
add their colour to the show,
Their coats of red with dots of black
against pink petals glow.
The roses seem to nod their heads
as if to aquiesce,
swaying gently in the breeze
their blooms my garden bless.
