IS THE AIR WE BREATHE IN CHANGED?
Sometimes the inner workings of our hearts outgrow us
Seeking new containers; between beats our hearts endure;
The tongue between teeth avows what it believes not.
Between earth and sky the rainbow bends as if to acquiesce
To both but neither is pleased nor is the recipient at rainbows
End the better for a mollification of a light beam falling.
Between breaths and between thoughts is a beatific quietude
That does not last as does the ebbing and flowing of oceans to
Cosmic tides. Always something must capitulate to something else.
Lest a seed fall to the ground it shall not bear fruit but clinging to
The fruit is what we all like to do. Once I tasted your breast I did
Not want to let you go nor could I stop my seed from rising.
What are we but machines faking a similitude of life between
Attraction and aversion; yet we participate in the ongoing rising
And falling which but mimics the great cascading waterfalls of earth
Yes, life was designed for rupture and death for rapture; birthing, budding
And finally sinking and dying is all that we know how to do. Baloons
Let air in and expel air; such a designation qualifies it as a life form.
Taking in and taking out is a function of most vital organs; heart, lungs,
Etc. The last time I took a great love in I could not recognize it when it
Left. I wonder I the air we breathe in is changed in such a way.
