LEAP WITHIN
To contain oneself means to transform the world inside;
Never to spill out for one second the rain of many sorrows
Or the darkness’s many evenings upon the lighted outer day.
Vast is the sky of consciousness compared to outer skylines
Where the inner constellations portend more auguries because
Inner restlessness is greater than the outer twinkling of stars.
Into these skyscapes we enter because dying is no longer to be
Able to hold onto the ground under our feet; our swan-like soul
Gently lifts ourselves up and over all the rippling of the outer world.
As always our lives pass into this transformation as the external world
Dwindles, knowing that the most visible happiness is revealed only
When transformed within; this is our inner labor of Hercules.
Where once we lived and gave meaning to the outer land of Egypt;
Those obelisks that once had meaning and pylons that upheld our
Earthly structure, now fade into grayness like an alien city.
Never was the world the open pure space we tried to make it; we even
Twist the young child’s face around forcing it to look at the creation.
And in doing so that ascending child will once face death as an adult.
Even lovers obstruct our view here, for each lover looking at the other
Ceases to look further behind the other; such is the oversight of our
Outer gaze darkened by us as we look at the creation of projected shadows.
The beloved is always truly seen as one heliotropes the gaze inwardly
To see the Self enfolding the entire creation of not self; Happiness is
The gnat who takes this leap within to rest on the corpus of bliss.
