ADAM PONDERED ON THIS
If we were immortal, what would we do with thousands
Of years of feeling? Would those first turbid infusions
Create a kingdom of serenity or would we outlast peace.
Would the imperative be to continue to taste the perpetual
Fruits of ongoingness or would the contemplation of the
Beloved suffice? Perhaps Adam pondered on this.
All of those who loved us from the first beginning would
Change their faces over time merging into a space of infinity
So as to no longer be recognizable. Adam pondered on this.
We would constantly separate simply by existing and our
Flickering moods would morph us either into unknowingness
Of each other or a baneful, repugnant familiarity of contempt.
Nothing is itself continually, unless perhaps we resigned into
A puppetized mockery of our original self. Adam pondered
On this and took it upon himself to choose death over life.
Maybe if Adam chose immortality the tempter would create
Another type of ruse where the problem of being and non being
Could be assailed in a different way; Satre would then be happy.
The existential problem is that we did not nor are we allowed to
Create our self; we were created. The boon of free will gave us
A choice to except perfection; Adam did not ponder on this.
