NO WORLD WITHOUT YOU
There is no world without you; the stars needed you
To gaze at them in springtime and mandolins need
To give themselves up to your note in madrigals.
Our oldest of sufferings is grist for all future renewing;
A passionate screed, a translation into art or simply to
Be able to breathe in the moist dewy air in a different way.
Roses and auspicious inscriptions need you to for the
Meaning of a human future. Pampered by early success
And subsequent failure you threw down the gauntlet
But we all pass ourselves off in vapor to breathe beyond
Our self innumerable scents to embellish the world only
To come back to us seemingly in an unappreciated way.
If you only knew how you enlivened the atoms in the atomic
Plane and gave quantum reality its raison d’etre, you would
Understand your place for no where is the world without you.
You see, you are infused in my blood and in the atomosphere
Of every joyous occasion for the whole world is porous to all
The ruptures of your heart since your first insipient participation.
How could it be otherwise for nature is neither unconsciously
Vague nor taciturn and it looks out back at you through myriads
Of portals, flowers, rocks and eyes longing to embrace you.
