WINTERING
In The winter we are wintering; that is, we leave behind
All that is parting, under winter, so freaking endless, can
Our hearts overcome all that is left behind to sunder.
Here in this ream of decline, -be dead forever, sing and step
Back. The ringing and the singing of celestial orbs do nothing
But to break the crystal of all the ice in our forever wintering.
Be-and know all the conditions of non-being as the polar bear
Who in his hibernation knows not the surliness of all that is
Around him. Let him arise in spring and exult in passing winter.
The world changes quickly, we know too well the heat of the
Dog star as well as Regulus. The seasons are as lessons for what
Has not been learned that goes with us unto death and reincarnation.
Time did scythe the chalice of youth and gave us in its endless paring
A skeleton upon which to frame our ideas of life. We knew red-bloodedness
And the fervent ideas that had its extension in the short duration of winter.
Yes, a surly goat dies by his lack of sure-footness and plummets the
Depths below. The bear awakes in spring and there is his meat. Who
Is it that plans for such a banquet. We, as humans, may be food for the moon.
