Chrysalis

I took the pain like nectar

And stored it in my bones

I went into the forest

And other hidden zones

I took the dirty coal

And turned it into gold

The torn-up earth turned green

The climate turned less cold

The chrysalis grew around me

And I began to change

The passions that surround me

Begun to rearrange

But the leaf I clung to

Was sealed not very strong

And the chrysalis fell heavy

When life dealt me a wrong

That was all some time ago

Since then I’ve fled again

The chrysalis rebuilds itself

Around more recent pain
