The monkey, the crow and the sheepdog

It was a dry sunny day in a plain desert that used to be a beautiful forest. The world had been destroyed by the evil workings of the God Unitpit and his agent the coyote. Some animals survived when the world was devastated, but no human survived. One of the ways to survive the devastation was to get something to eat during the long journey to find a place that wasn’t damaged enough. In said journey, there was the monkey, who was the one who felt superior to the other animals. With him, there was a crow, which was a very selfish animal that only cared about the present and about himself. The third member of the group was a white, old sheepdog that cared about others and always appreciated what he had. Each of them had precious items for their journey. The monkey had three bananas, the bird had one piece of corn and the dog had a bone with tiny pieces of meat still attached to it.

The monkey said, “I’ll be the one who lasts longer. That’s because I have more food than both of you”, then he ate his first banana. As for the bird, it was easier for him to get food because he was small, so he started eating his piece of corn. The dog was the oldest, but also the wisest of the group, so he kept silent and kept walking without eating his bone. It passed a day and the monkey ate his other banana, the bird, because he finished eating his corn, looked for more food nearby and found a piece of gum and ate it. The dog, knowing what was going to happen, ate only a tiny piece of the meat that was attached to the bone and continued his journey.

Later that day, the bird started feeling bad and couldn’t fly any longer so he decided to take a nap at the dogs back. The bird never woke up again. The monkey, thinking of the present and not the future, started eating his last banana. The dog, unlike the monkey, only ate a small piece of meat that was attached to the bone and kept on walking. The second day passed and the monkey started feeling hungry again, but he didn’t have any more bananas. The dog, like before, kept on eating tiny pieces of his bone. The third day passed and the monkey didn’t wake up. Now the dog, having meat still attached to that bone, noticed that he didn’t finish it like the other animals that were with him. He appreciated what he had and reserved it for his future. While the dog was wondering what would happen in the future, the plants were starting to grow.
