If there’s one friend in particular that I’ll always remember, it’s my friend Francisco. But if there’s one particular possession of him that I’ll remember, it’s his very own Jeep. It wasn’t just a big, enormous truck with a lot of horsepower that would let us go to any place in the city, it wasn’t just a tool and a representation of his simple, but solid personality, and it wasn´t just a dirty, good looking Jeep. It was the key to our entire teen hood, and specially, the key to Francisco emotions. Almost every weekend, Francisco, other friends and I would go to different places around Victoria City. Restaurants, parties, you call it. No matter the conditions, Francisco would always be there to give us a ride, what a wonderful pal! One day, Francisco told us that this Jeep was very important to him. Not only he showed us this by sometimes cleaning the Jeep but he showed us this by always being there driving it. Afterwards, he said the Jeep wasn’t his! In reality, the Jeep was property of his father, but some days, Francisco would drive it when he felt really tired. Yes, during those times, Francisco was a 17 years old student, but his father didn’t oppose to him to drive the Jeep. But why? One day, when we were strolling the streets, Francisco decided to turn on the beat. Suddenly, he accelerated to extreme speeds and we didn’t have other choice but to feel really weird! Nevertheless, we enjoyed the breeze that we felt and realized why Francisco enjoyed this Jeep. Francisco not only liked to drive, he also liked to style. What Francisco felt was freedom when driving this Jeep. This was because in reality, Francisco was a very non talkative person. He was a little bit shy actually. His face almost always didn’t show any sort of emotion. However, while Francisco drove the Jeep, my friends and I would start to get a feeling from him, we would feel his happiness. This also explained why he always wanted to give us a ride. Not only to different places but to our very own houses. Those days, I remember how I would call him for a ride and how he would come to pick us up with a sincere smile. Francisco enjoyed to drive. Francisco enjoyed to style. Francisco felt free. He was really free.
