For Josie and Reilly
Outside the snow is blowing.
The wind is howling.
Winter is finally showing her icy face.
Snow is piling higher and higher.
Seems no reprieve from the lonely chill.
Inside we are warm,
In our families embrace.
The children are getting bored.
So they start to race,
Into the living room,
Into the kitchen,
Through the dining room,
They chase.
When they wind down,
Wondering questions ensue.
What to do oh what to do?
I sneak to the backdoor
With a cup so big,
Scoop up some snow
For some fun we can do!
A sprinkle here a sprinkle there
On the little heads it does land.
Giggles and laughter fill the air.
Soon we are warring
Who gets who the most!
Snowballs are flying!
Here and there and everywhere!
The kitchen is soaked!
But we don't care.
We all just laugh,
For we know the best part of snow
Is the snowball fights!!
