Poetry for the People: Affirmation Poem

I wear control like a silk black dress

Jaguars envy my

prowess

Power my only husband

boys too busy bending

my way like stems of pretty flowers

to the sun

My favorite days run on no sleep

quads of green

poetry how I work hard for my success

how my joints b u r n smoother

than the mens' how they expect me to stand impressed by them

But I wear control like

silken ripples of a black minidress

and it fits me

so well

My areas of expertise

straight A's, slowing my heart beat

as it sneaks back over the fence through the window to my room

at 5 in the morning

every morning

of high school,

sunrise waking, seduction, success,

feline rationality and keeping my

masculine

hunger

to myself

falling in (and out) of love

forgiveness and

knowing when to grab my skateboard

green hop the bus

just me and my earth

shattering

self

trust.
