Serious Poems

A yellow ball, rolling through an ocean of blue

The shining sphere, warmth and light

Always the centre of attention

Strong beyond his ken,

In accidental power, causing droughts

Burning

But well intentioned

Warmth and light

A shining pearl, gleaming in the ocean’s black depths

The calm orb, silver glow

Arrayed with sparkling diamonds

She sings with the stars and crickets

She smiles down, but has a darker side

Mystery

The nocturnal pearl

Silver glow

He, outgoing, blazes bright

She, withdrawn, softly shining

So very different

Day and Night

They share the sky

He has his brightly-coloured coral reefs

She, her secluded oyster shell

In the ocean

The same ocean
