I am a fatherless father 

I grew up not knowing my dad 

I grew up without father-son memories 

I didn't have experiences 

I should have had 

When my son looks back on his childhood

I want my son to look back and say 

I didn't have everything

I didn't always get my way

I can say this when I reminisce

I know my dad did his best 

my dad was by my side everyday

I wrote this to acknowledge others 

We're a worldwide group of strangers

We're as close as estranged brothers

We have a similar story of hearts still hurting 

because we can say in unison 

I was a boy, now I have a son

I am a fatherless father
