Many states have stupid laws often written long ago
Why they were written in the first place it’s hard for us to know.
Take Kentucky for instance where there is a prohibition
On any woman buying a hat without her husband’s permission.
And the rest of the United States needn’t worry and needn’t fear
Since Kentuckians are required by law to shower once a year.
Here’s a law I’m sure Kentuckians are glad is on the docket
In Lexington it’s illegal to carry an ice cream cone in your pocket.
And finally another dumb Kentucky low on Google I have found
You are considered sober in Kentucky until you can no longer hold onto the ground?
So I guess we shouldn’t be surprised when the Kentucky High School Athletic Association
Decided on a solution to curtail after sporting event altercations.
To ensure there would be no more fights, (see if you can find their huge mistake)
They’ve decided after sporting events there would be no more handshakes.
In my opinion the Association has made one colossal slip
By not punishing the students who fight but by banning sportsmanship.
I’m amazed at how those who make the rules, those with all the insights
Can’t realize that it’s not the handshakes that’s causing all the fights.
I think we should be teaching lessons to the students in our schools
By dealing with the problems instead of making stupid rules.
Where does it end, if we don’t have the nerve to deal with those who brawl
Why don’t we just ban the game…don’t let them play at all?
Let’s stop making stupid rules…let’s go back to being wise
And deal with the problems if and when they first arise.
For as long as we keep enacting stupid laws and making stupid rules
The only lesson we’re teaching is that we are a government of fools.
