AS LONG AS HER HEART IS BEATING

Folder:
LOVE

With so much hatred in the world…with bullets flying and bombs dropping from above

We often have to remind ourselves…the world is still filled with love…

So here’s a story of a husband and wife…whose love was happily intertwined

even after they discovered the wife was going blind.

While they were anxiously waiting…before her blindness began…

her husband made a promise, “I will help you…any way I can.”

He accompanied her to her work…where the situation he helped her apprise

then showed her how to do her job…without using her eyes.

Next he spent hours (for love and patience he didn’t lack)

teaching her how to take the bus to work…and how to take it back.

When he was sure she was ready…one morning he made it known..

that it was time for her to go to work…and come back on her own.

So nervously she kissed him goodbye…and although she was concerned

she did her best to remember everything she’d learned.

And she made it!  She boarded the bus…went to work…

determined not to let her blindness defeat her.

And when she got off the bus at the end of the day…he was there to greet her.

Two weeks into her new routine…the bus driver, who’s name was Al…

after greeting her when she boarded said, “You know…you are one lucky gal.”

“Lucky!” She said. “I’m blind…I lost my sight…I’ll never be able to see.”

“When you say that I am lucky…how lucky can I be.”

“Why you have a guardian angel.” The bus driver said. “I’m convinced you do.”

“Every day since you started riding my bus your husband’s been watching out for you.”

“He smiles when he sees you get on the bus…then waves to me and slowly walks away

he waves to me when you get to work…and when he meets you at the end of your day.”

She stopped and smiled at the bus driver…feeling happy and secure

knowing that her husband has been looking out for her…

She thanked the bus driver…then in her husband’s direction waved a greeting…

knowing though she can no longer see his love…

she will feel it

as long as her heart is beating.
