The weatherman said there’s a chance of showers—50% or more.
so I put on my raincoat that morning before I headed out the door.
If the weatherman was wrong…no worries…
the weather in Florida is sometimes difficult to explain.
But…if the weatherman was right…I’d get to walk out in the rain.
Since I already donned my raincoat it was with considerable delight
when I started walking and realized…the weatherman was right!
It was a light night rain…invisible to the eyes……falling softly to the ground
that seemed aware of all the people still sleeping …as it hardly made a sound.
I zipped my raincoat up as the air grew colder and colder
and watched as some of the raindrops landed gently on my shoulder.
And as more raindrops parachuted in from the night sky painted black
I could hear them as they landed on my head and scurried down my back.
And it made me smile as I traversed the ever-dampening terrain
to think…how lucky I was this morning..to be greeted by the rain.
As you may have guessed the rain is quiet…raindrops do not like to talk
so I did all the talking to the raindrops on my walk.
I thanked them when I got home…for a morning I won’t soon forget.
Of course the raindrops didn’t answer as they weren’t through raining yet.
That evening as I crawled into bed…memories of those raindrops still remained…
Again I smiled knowing:
Some of the most beautiful dreams we can dream…
are those inspired by the rain?
