Have you ever wondered about this? Have you ever stopped to think…
oftentimes without even noticing…how many times a day…we blink?
I know the scientific explanation but…when I look to Jupiter and Mars
I wonder if another answer can’t be found among the stars.
When I gaze up at the twinkling stars…every time…I am enthralled…
experiencing the vastness of the universe I can’t help but feel small.
For I know what I am seeing…the small portion in which I am immersed…
is but a tiny fraction of the total universe.
I remember back in high school…something my science teacher discussed…
how 97% of who we are was created from stardust.
And when I think how stardust coursing through our veins…
links us all the universe and the universe to us all…
as I gaze up at the stars…I no longer feel as small.
I feel connected to the universe…for how lucky can I be…
that stardust from the heavens has found its way to me?
And when I see another person…be they old…or be they new
I smile and whisper to myself, “I’m glad the stardust found you too.”
This leads me to a simple conclusion…(which should come as no surprise):
We blink so much because…there is stardust in our eyes…
And so it makes unscientifically perfect sense…
when you stop and think it through…
that…when the stars look up at us…
they see us twinkling too.
