MOMENTS OF DECISION

We all face moments of decision in our lives…when we might feel alone…

as if stranded on a sandbar….

Where what we choose to do in those moments…for those moments…

determine who we are.

Moments when a decision is short and easy…moments when it is difficult and long.

Moments when we determine for ourselves…what is right…and what is wrong.

Moments when the right path might be easy enough to see….

Moments made more difficult when our heart and mind do not agree.

It can be difficult to keep them straight…to know what’s being said…

when we hear two opposing voices quarreling in our head.

“You know this is too dangerous!” Your mind says…hoping to prevail.

“It is much safer to do nothing! What will happen if you fail?”

Then the heart gives its rebuttal, “It’s okay to be afraid but you must stay strong.

It’s not always easy choosing what is right over what is wrong.

And though we know it will be dangerous…our mind keeps telling us,

“This isn’t smart!”

we decide to do what we know is right…and listen to our heart.

We might stumble…We might fail…

We might end up bruised and battered and scarred…

but we will always be proud of our decision…

always proud of who we are.
