I KNOW A MAN AND A WOMAN

I know a man in a wheelchair who seldom wears a frown,

who doesn’t let the fact he can’t stand up…ever get him down.

I know a woman who walks beside him on whom he can rely…

to help him wear a smile…to keeps his spirits high…

Oh, I imagine they have their moments…their apprehensions and their doubts…

but together they wake up every morning…in search of things to smile about.

Despite the curve life threw them…they have remained optimistic…

determined…

strong…

Where once they happily danced through life…

they now merrily roll along.

Their life has changed direction…their path…so incredible…and new…

They now see things from a unique perspective…a different point of view.

Now they go a little slower on their strolls along the shore…

They take the time to feel the wind…to watch the clouds and sea gulls soar…

Now they smile as they roll into a garden…for they realize as they explore…

how he is closer to the flowers than he ever was before.

I admire all they’ve overcome…through their struggles and their strife…

they are proof how positive attitudes can make a difference in your life.

When I think of this man and woman…and all they have withstood

I think how love has lifted both of them higher…than either ever thought it would.

It’s true we don’t know what life has in store for us…what awaits around any turn…

But I believe everyone has a lesson to teach us…if we take the time to learn.

I’ve learned how love can meet adversity and encourage a smile to replace a frown…

I've learned two people can stand together…even when one is sitting down.

a good positive poem

My mother was a rainbow

My father turned her grey

they loved me like a sky lantern

they watched me fly away
