A Child's Laugh!

Skied today
After three years
The prospect of the green hill comforting
Routine of the ticket wicket
boots bindings and poles
A pleasantly familiar liturgy
Skating to the lift
A challenge
Obviously tune the skiis
Or maybe me
Riding single up the double chair
Thoughtful quiet anxiety
The familiar vista
Of corduroy trails
Dismounting with effort
Poles on wrists
Snow plow to the trail head
Tentative
The helmet a new dimension
A concession to the stroke and cumiden
The snowplough gives way to parallels
The pole plant unconscious
The rhythm apparent but elusive
The groove is tough to find
Too much thought
Stop the brain thing
Feel the snow
The groove is back with a child's laugh
The dance begins once more
The music plays
I'm in perfect sync
All too soon
The run is over
The chair beckons
This time the blue
I'm back and it feels so good

Author's Notes/Comments:

Hadn't skied in three years. After the stroke last eyar I was afraid that was the end of it. I finally got up enough courage to try once more last week.
