Before I Close My Eyes
Each and every night
I think about you before I close my eyes
All the good things that are between us
As well as the things that get between us
I think about the past and then the future
And all the places we will go
When single nights turn into forever
And when happiness has a place to grow
I think that if just tonight I can make her smile
Then tomorrow won't be so bad
And when I make her smile, I smile, too
One of the many gifts she has
I dream of a time when happiness will be
The last thing on our minds
Because with that 'simple' goal accomplished
There's so much more in life to find
When the days turn into weeks
And the weeks turn into months
When the months turn into years
I will no longer live with fears
Of waking up tomorrow, to and empty place inside my heart
Where sadness makes a nest in
To tear my world apart
But thats what happens in this lifetime
You never know where or when it all will end
So I've been living for the moment
Not trying to waste my time, my friends
So tonight when I think about you
Sleeping so soft so beautiful and sweet
I will pretend you are laying next to me
Holding you close where under the covers our bodies meet
The day will come when I see you again
And until then, I'll swim upstream
You know I'm always a call away
And I'll always be in your dreams
Because each and every night I think about you
