When we are young, our parents are superheroes
We see them as perfect role models with no wrongs
As we age, we learn of their transgressions
Their perfection is lost
This is not an easy process for a child
One of two things happens
Either the transgressions are too large
Or they are human enough to accept
Alcoholism, abuse, gambling, divorce, lying, materialism
Yet society tells us to move on; "forgive but don't forget"
"No one owes you anything" they say
They are wrong
Your parents have a duty to do right by you
Make your own choice and block out the noise of society
Learn from the mistakes of your elders and don't repeat them
