2023 is the year of me
Because 2022 was the year of you
You took and took until there was nothing left to take
You left me a shell of person, but make no mistake
This year is a selfish one where I will do me
And I'll rise from your ashes for you to see
I'll be baptized from all my tears
Because you stole my happiness for too many years
Your lies ignited a fire that I thought had gone out
But it smoulder deep inside, so have no doubt
I'll rise like the Phoenix to get over you
I'll begin again and I'll start a new
You won't recognize me a year from now
And you'll wonder why and you'll ask how
I learned to finally see you and say no more
And what strength it took to close that door
It won't be easy I know this for sure
But you're a sickness and I'm the cure
At times I'll feel weak, but one thing will remain
My will to choose remission from all of your pain
So take one last look before I go
I want you to see and I want you to know
You broke me but let me be clear
I am choosing happiness for me this year
