Twisted Jungle

Folder:
2007-2009 Poems

Some birds quack, cows coo…

Chickens meow, hippos yawn “achoo!”

I don’t understand this huge safari

It’s a twisted jungle, should I worry?

The hyenas don’t laugh

And the pythons are vegetarians,

Monkeys smoke cigar,

Pretending they are humans.

All is basic instinct,

Nothing much is distinct.

Is it human extinction?

A reverse evolution?

And so in this twisted jungle,

I become the black panther.

Wandering about everywhere,

Searching for twisted dreams to share.

I’ll pounce and I’ll bounce

From here to there,

Adaptation is essential

But preservation as well.

So let the who-they-are-not

Sing their happy E-I-E-I-O!

Just let me be, let me ROAR!!!

And sway in my own jungle mambo.

Because I cannot defy my very core

And so when I have the chance, I roar!

Keep me from doing it

And I’ll be your most fierce predator.

This twisted jungle

Is an eccentric kingdom,

But never, ever, ever!!!

Shall it feels like home.

Author's Notes/Comments:

I must 'be'. It is the only way to be the fittest and it's a world of survival. -jerlin 10 April 2007
