Lord, make me a better person…
So that I could help build a better world.
Build me, compose me,
Hurt me if you must.
If that’s the only way
To make me see
Beauty in Chaos,
Joy in Tears,
Peace in Confusion,
Courage in Fear,
…Love in Hatred…
I wish to live this gift of life
To the FULLEST and at it’s BEST.
I don’t care how- and I don’t know how.
I don’t know,
I don’t care…
As long as I know that YOU’RE WITH ME,
And I AM WITH YOU.
I will be alright.
Lord, make me a better person…
With a better heart.
In the end, I just want to say…
That I DID ALL OF THESE
Because of YOU
And all FOR YOU.
This prayer in the form of an aspirational poem works well as a piece of writing. It contains touching words and phrases in the form of wishes/requests; its evocative phrasing and appropriate structure bring the reader on board and stay for the whole journey.
You wrote it three years ago; I hope it has worked as well for your personal life during those three years as it has in the form of well-written creative writing.
I'll try to get back to your site to read some more of your work. You seem to have a talent to convey vivid impressions of our complex world; also, to express universal feelings about its vagaries.
Finally: keep writing! If you can't ever be famous as a writer, at least try to be great!
That was such a beautiful prayer. It is so true how there are points in a person's life where every weight of the world comes crashing down on their shoulders. Keep up the faith!
incredible work
on this
Simply beautiful.
