At Metaphor With An Internet Poet

Out of the unimaginable scores
of casual appellation, pen-, screen-names,
or handles, some become pure metaphors;
and, in some lines of verse, make subtle claims
of common terms upon receptive souls.
Despite the world that gnashes, nicks, and pulls
Beauty asunder, poem can still restore
its pristine, perfect presence---not with lore
of ancient rites, or sacrifice of gore . . .

but only rhyme . . . measure . . . and metaphor.
