At Morning Prayer

To partake, when my morning starts, of their
fine fellowship, I offer up this prayer,
here at my desk within this dreary place,
cieled from the sun.  Of those first saved by Grace,
evangelized by Christ in Galilee
(despite the world's opposing perfidy);
then in the lands around the Middle Sea,
and finally to the very streets of Rome---
Lord, let their early Christianity
(now celebrant in Your eternal home)
inform each word of this day's conversation
(just as it has informed the inspiration
that sets the several lines of this brief poem),
to make this time more graceful, spiritually.
