[a satire of sorts]

The only way to raise this tower, in Babel---
and place its utmost level in the sky---
is through the unimpeded use of cable
to raise each load of bricks so very high
(the top will not be seen by human eye).
This edifice will stand as long as time
exists, as witness to the possible.
No matter that our mortal is . . . well . . . slime
(and measured by the finger:  digital,
you might say),  We have proven we are able
to build a lasting monument:  tall, stable
(a massive answer to each future scorner;
and, to the very gods themselves, a warner)
as long as no one disconnects our cable.
