Why am I here waiting?

Thinking can take a very long time I know

All the things you're contemplating

Should you leave me and go…

As I sit here and wonder

What it is you are looking for

Have you made up your mind

Or are you wanting something more

Too scared to call and hear my voice

You're worried what I might say

While you're thinking,  my life doesn't stop

I can't just sit here all day

If I did I'd certainly be losing my mind

As I'd wonder how you're doing

Hoping you're fine

Wanting to know have you made up your mind

And then I'd say to myself

Why am I here waiting

Thinking can take a very long time I know

All the things you're contemplating

Should you leave me and go….

So when you do call

I won't be here

I have friends you know

They need me too, it's quite clear

I can find comfort in their arms

Smiles on their faces

As they wipe my tears away

Telling me I'm with them and I'm safe

If I sat at home

I'd be pacing the floor

Still wondering what you're thinking

Will you soon be shutting the door

And then I'd say to myself….

Why am I here waiting

Thinking can take a very long time I know

All the things you're contemplating

Should you leave me and go….

Then I would say to myself

I have waited long enough

After all this time has passed

What could you possibly have to say

Without leaving me last...
