Waiting for The Leaves to Fall
By: Joel Faypon
Reason kills compassion
while he surrendered to the cowardice
of this part of him that he let go
The saint died
stopping the breath of an angel
floating in the warm void of the unknown
Reason killed the season
that gave the gift of life
to a faceless mother
disgraced right there and then
When he refused
to let the angel come out
again and be faced
with yet another unknown
There he watched himself
transform into an unrecognizable
creature that murders fate
Watching himself in a mirror
without a reflection
Waiting in vain for change
Disturbed and waiting
for the leaves to fall.
