Poor ol' Hobbs
bumming cigarettes and quarters
for his cheap red wine.
.....we don't mind
Sad ol' Hobbs
hangin at the bar at Lucy's
until closin time
He must be outta his mind
drunk and mumbles all the time
every year around springtime
wanders in ol' Hobbs
Poor ol' Hobbs
had a wife and a education
but it doesn't show
.....we'll never know
Sad ol' Hobbs
kicked in the head by a horse
down at the rodeo
Well he rambles to and fro
sweepin parking lots for a sloppy joe
guess we'll never truly know
about good ol' Hobbs
Dear sweet Hobbs
preacher found him in the alley
in the pouring rain
....its a shame
Pitiful Hobbs
love letters clutched in his fingers
from his sweet love Jane
Some say he died from pain
or her verse and memories drove him insane
but now he's aboard that heaven train
wheelin away ol' Hobbs
