The full scope of horrors
Has finally been exposed
The Jews have been rescued
But the matter's not yet closed
He is retelling his story
Of those heinous years
As he recalls the pain
His eyes fill with tears
Remembering the non-Jews
Who showed their kindness
They didn't have to save him
But did so nonetheless
He explains how he hid
So he wouldn't be deported
And others ignored warnings
That Jan Karski had reported
Churches, orphanages, and homes
All lent out their aid
Taking the roles of Angels
Accepting what God made
I listen to him speak
As tears roll down my face
He takes a breath of freedom
For it knows no race
As I await his next words
There's a tightness in my chest
Thank Heavens that I'm free
And thank God for all the rest
