I knew a boy once
Who opened my eyes
And made me see
The stars in the skies.
He wiped my tears
And held me close
He was a friend
When I needed it most.
What a great few years
We managed to have
And since he left
Id forever been sad.
And then yesterday
He came back again
Still holding me close
And being my friend.
Now things have changed
And we've grown apart
But that same boy seems
To still hold my heart.
Seeing him that day
Almost brought tears
To fall from my eyes
After over a year.
I pushed them back
And held them in
I refused to let
My pain win.
I tried to be mad and
I tried to pretend
That there was nothing
And we werent friends.
But I couldnt do it
And it fell into place
Hearing his voice
And seeing his face.
Hes the greatest friend
I could have ever had
Sure he's hurt me and
Sure he's made me sad.
But after all this time
Ive learned to forgive
One of my truest friends
Who taught me to live.
I knew a boy once
