"An Ode to Darkness"
The sun falling
Behind the mountains
Makes me happy.
Cause the darkness
Seems more clear to me.
When nightfall comes
I can sit and stare in wonder.
At the tiny stars drifting
Farther from me.
The darkness engulfs my presence
And takes away the light.
Blinding me to everything
But opening my eyes.
Making me take a deeper look.
I wonder where I am.
As with the darkness comes the cold.
Im getting numb to
The darkness and cold.
I can barely feel anything.
As it finally comes to me.
I am drifting from my body
Im travelling with my mind.
Taking my presence to another level,
To where i can see it all.
A view from above.
A view ive never had.
And with the darkness
Comes the calm.
Like a cool ocean
On a windless night.
Everything is standing still.
Ive even begun to hold my breath.
Cause i dont want to break the silence.
It makes me happy.
And as the minutes pass
And the sands of time fall
I can hear the silence.
The darkness is so loud.
It drowns out the noises.
That come when the sun goes to sleep.
But now its waking up.
And the time i had to myself
Is gone.
Now i will wait out the day.
Until darkness falls again.
Until i can hear the silence,
Until i can recite,
My ode to darkness once again.
