Silently with the street light,
my eyes flicker to the beat of the dying bulb
sporadically illuminated in the prevailing black,
witnessing the last lonely soldier
attack and recede against the night
It's a quiet battle fought on street corners
and forgotten roads,
while the people of the world selfishly
pursue dreams in our own sanctioned
darkness
But tonight I've abandoned my slumber
Standing by the slender warrior
until the sun casts the final blow
