On the summer of 2013 I was fifteen years old, and it is kind of a tradition that when a grandson or granddaughter comes to this age my grandma takes us into a trip to Germany. I started the tradition because I am the oldest, and it has been happening ever since. I at first was a little scared. I always got along nicely with my grandma, but we were now talking about spending three whole weeks all by ourselves.
The date came and we started the trip. We arrived at Frankfurt. We were supposed to start a tour here the next date from our arrival with some other 2 couples and our guide. The date came and it all started. I got to meet our group, it was a bit strange at first because I was surrounded by two very patriotic Brazilian couples. At first they seemed kind of strange, they talked a lot. And they bragged about how Brazil was going to be the world’s leading country sometime soon. Our group leader was a whole character too, his name was Jamil and he was one of the nicest people I would ever meet.
We made several trips and we all got along nicely towards the end, we became a good group. We learnt a lot about everyone. The tour ended and the plan was to go to my grandmother’s sisters house and stay there for the remaining week and a half.
We arrived at my great-aunts apartment and it is probably the most colorful place I have ever been. The t.v room was a very green lime intense color, with flower print furniture. The kitchen was all purple, the cabinets, utensils, cutlery, everything. Her bedroom was purple too. And the bathroom, the famous bathroom was bright pink, with multiple flamingos, a big pink bathtub and pink carpet all around it. The bright colors all around the apartment made you feel good, in a good mood, like you were having fun, and that exactly is how my great aunt is. Her place could totally describe her personality.
One of the thing I remember the most was taking showers in her pink bathroom. First of all the bathtub didn’t have curtain it just stood there in the middle of the room, surrounded by a carpeted pink floor. The bathtub had a handheld telephone, and it was the most difficult thing to use because the tub didn’t have any curtains! So if you didn’t calculate or got distracted; like I did all the time, you ended up flooding the bathroom and soaking all the walls. It was like the water got to everyplace, except the one you needed it.
My great aunt never got mad I made such a big disaster every time I took a shower. She was really patient with me. And even though it was just a small thing, it felt great to know that she didn’t care about this sort of things, she would always laugh and even until today is became a story between, about how I always dropped the telephone and the water got everywhere.
It was a really nice trip, we got to meet a lot of new places, and a whole of new people too, everyone with their special thing.
Its interesting how through life you meet a lot of people, and we take what we like from their personalities and try to adapt them. I believe we are a mixture of all the things we like about the people we meet along the way.
