Cold eyes stare and glare
As Mommy walks with me to the stairs
T-A-N-F I read aloud.
Mommy says, “hush, you annoy the crowds.”
Her smile conveys pride and love
For the little girl who clings to her glove.
Then we walk forward as the numbers come
Then those horrible words, “I’m sorry all has been done.”
Now she is empty and looks dim
Some people say it is because of her sin
Years go by and I grow
Now I know what that looks show
Be grateful for what you have right now
Sooner or later you’ll join Mommy
In the crowd.
