we sold everything
the peace that was meant to end war
we sold it for something cheap and nasty
which didnt last
and gave up ideas of peace
holding our cheap trinklet in the middle of the night
to keep us comforted as the black blanket
of night approached
so we are busy distracting ourselves
trying to decide which product on the shelf
one should choose.
i dont know. i dont know.
its all too much.
i stare at the man looking down at a book
its on the bargain table
a woman spreading her legs
somehow this is meant to be empowering
i dont feel empowered
respect and love for the woman and her womb
because she is mother earth
in the past raped
now she wants some respect. some recognition
that her job is just as important as any robot function coporate whirlwind
but instead they gave her a corporate nametag
and she gets to stand next to men
and she still gets raped
behind the scenes
we sold everything
the love
in exchange for temporary physical comfort
to stop us feeling the crushing lonliness of reality
crashing down on our heads
but we dont see its been pushed off the ledge
and that its above us
hurtling
towards our heads
smashing us into the ground
trampled. used. abused.
we sold everything
images for teenages to use as mirrors
to establish an identity saturated in selling power
so they are cutting themselves with the glass from the mirrors
because its the done thing
and they feel empty
but so full. on too too much.
throwing up in the gutters
flowers growing through the cracks
burnt by acid bile
teenagers lay on speakers
just to feel some sort of vibration
of a world long gone
they know nothing else
mass produced poison sold
because we know the end is coming
we dont want to be alive when it comes
cant bare to see. cant bare to look.
got our hands over our eyes
we dont want to see what is truly in front of us.
we sold everything
the innocence
its lost and leaking down the gutters
its a tidal wave of tears
come to drown the world
to disconnect us from what is real
we wouldnt even know it if we past it in the street
so now even the peace, the love, the soul
is sold
but dont be fooled
because its not really the peace the love or the soul
weve been fooled
but we gotta believe
that there is a heaven some place
where its gone
& that it has been kept safe
and sheltered in its original pure state
unmassproduced
out of the way of a million grabbing hands.
& unlabelled
so it cant be pinned down.
that it has flown away
from all of this
